“Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half.”

— John Wanamaker, Department Store Owner (1838 - 1922)

We know the feeling - marketing can be a bit of a mystery. When you launch a direct mail campaign or email blast, more often than not you are left wondering: did it get opened, did it connect, will it create leads? There are plenty of tools, such as Google Analytics, that try to you get details of what’s going on, but more often than not they overwhelm you with data without answering any real questions.

That’s why we recently (and quietly) added AgentMethods Analytics as a free upgrade to all insurance websites built on our platform. Instead of trying to create the most powerful analytics tool available, we created the simplest. The goal with AgentMethods Analytics is to give you a simple, one-page snapshot of your website.

AgentMethods Analytics answers the four most critical questions about your website:

1. How many people are coming to my insurance website?

At the highest level, are people coming to your site? You might be surprised. AgentMethods Analytics gives you a count of total visits by day, graphed out by day. We overlay the current month with the previous month so you can see changes and spot trends. See a big spike or change in traffic? Look for campaigns, such as email, social media, or even direct mail to see if it is bringing people to your site.

2. What referred my visitors to my site?

Knowing what source directed visitors to your site will help you pinpoint exactly what marketing efforts are working. We break it down into four tags: social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter), websites and search engines, email, and direct (people that type in your website address).

3. What content on my site are my visitors most interested in?

Get an idea of what content people are finding most interesting on your site. For each month, you will see the most popular content on your site. This will give you an idea of what products people are looking for and questions they want answered. See a consistently popular page? Make more pages like it!

4. How many leads did I get and what do they want?

It’s all about leads… but in order to get those leads, you need to learn what your prospects want and respond to. Keep an eye on where those leads come from and what form they filled out. Are they asking a question, requesting a quote, downloading a free guide? By learning what gets your visitors to convert, you can improve your site. Make sure your best converting forms are easy to find.

Want more data?

Part of making AgentMethods Analytics the simplest analytics tool is removing lots of the detail. If you find that you have more questions and want to dig deeper, you can always supplement with a more complex analytics tool. We use Google Analytics - it’s quick to install and will give you tons of information. But try the built in tool first - it’s free, there’s nothing to set up, configure, or figure out. And it’s designed to give you insights fast.
